Instruction & Training

Instruction and Training by

Brooke DeVore

Brooke began riding since she started taking lessons at 6 years old. She’s hardly been off of a horse since then.  Her initial trainers philosophy is that when ever you are handling a horse, whether on the ground or under saddle you are training that horse.  They also believe that all riders should also know how to teach.  At 9 she was a counselor at their summer horse camps teaching other kids.  She became a favorite of many of the kids and parents.

At 9 she rode in her 1st Rocky Mountain Dressage Society Championship Show.  That same year she won a national award from the Pinto Horse Association.  She hasn’t stopped winning since then on several different horses.  While training Fresians, she became the International Fresian Horse Association’s Young Rider of the Year. With her own horse, 4 year old ,Wild Magic LHF, she became the United States Dressage Association, Region 5 Training Level Jr/YR TrainingLevel Champion.  She also won the Hanoverian Jr/YR Training level National Champion.  The next year she was Hanoverian reserve nationalJr/Yr champion at 1st level.

Brooke has trained with many of the top trainers in the country.  She ridden in clinics with Steffen Peters, Janet Brown, and Gerhard Politz.  For several years she trained with Alex Wortmann, a German trainer, who took her and 6 other English speaking girls to Germany for 3 weeks to train in one of the German riding academies.  There she earned her German little bronze medal at the age of 12.  This training was in both dressage and jumping.  At the age of 14 Brooke became one of the top finalists for the reality show, The Next Dressage Star, unfortunately due to her age she was not selected to actually take part in the competition.  During  her high school years, she was a working student for several successful Colorado Trainers such as Jill Cantor-Lee and Petra Warlimont.

She has also started and trained many successful show horses from the ground up and has extensive experience with young horses of any discipline. In addition to all these achievements she is also graduate of Lamar Community College horse training and Management School.

Brooke’s experience is not in just dressage or jumping.  She has shownin the Hunter/Jumper classes at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, but also has shown in the Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure Open Horse show since she was 10 and had many championship wins! This past summer she also did an internship and worked for a very well known reining trainer. She has also shown successfully and coached kids in 4-H shows since she was 9.  These shows include gymkhana classes, such as barrel racing, pole bending, and other popular speed classes.  When she moved on to college, rodeoing became her passion.  Besides continuing on with barrel racing she’s also added roping to her skills.

Brooke also continues to excel as a student at Oklahoma State University and is pursuing a undergraduate degree in Animal Science with a Animal Bio Technology option with hopes to go to graduate school and peruse a masters in Equine Nutrition.
