Von Faust
1994-2009
Von Faust (birth name Harai) was born in 1994 in Norco, California. He was bred by Nina Miller and at the age of six months old became a member of Cheryl Skigin’s family. Cheryl and her family raised, trained and molded Faust into the amazing horse he became. He was a star stallion with the FPS, and in 2002 passed all requirements, including a performance test and became an approved breeding stallion for FHS. He won multiple regional and national titles with IFHSA and FHS throughout his performance career.
Cheryl knew what an incredible horse Faust was. He had sired several 1st premium purebred foals and she wanted him to contribute more to the breed. Since Cheryl no longer had any Friesian mares, in 2007 she found him a new home with me at my Friesian breeding farm in Stillwater, OK, to be the foundation sire for my Purebred breeding program.
Faust was a dream come true for me. He had an incredible temperament….very kind, smart, extremely willing to please and work and a dream to handle in the breeding shed. He loved his new home where he had his own pasture to graze and frolic in. He could see all the horses from his pasture and watch over “his” mares and the entire on goings at the farm. This was his Castle and Kingdom and he was very proud of it, and I of him.
On April 1st 2009 Faust suddenly became very ill. After spending a week at OSU Veterinary Hospital he died on April 8th of complications from a ruptured esophageal diverticulum, he was fifteen years old.
Faust touched many people’s lives; everyone who met him was in awe of his presence and personality, he was breathtakingly beautiful inside and out and his movement was stunning. Our time together wasn’t long enough and I miss him very much. I now look ahead for the arrival of his foals...he will live on through them.
I love you Faust…..rest in peace
